“My experience with the mentorship programme was very positive. A mentor who agreed to work with me on my paper was a perfect match. We met every two weeks in the beginning and discussed the goals and plans for writing the paper. I received feedback on how to work on my paper and what to focus on, and how to structure it.”
“For any young researcher is important to have a mentor beyond the circle of their direct supervisors. This gives the opportunity to broaden the perspectives of young researchers and learn aspects of academic life outside their home university.”
“Participation in the mentorship program was helpful for me. My mentor is very supportive, not only in the writing and publishing realms of academic life. But also, my mentor has shared essential tips on presenting and engaging with an audience and how to overcome anxiety related to writing and presenting research.”

Become a Mentee

Every other summer, we publish a Call for Applications to our programme. Applicants apply with a 4000-word single-authored draft of an academic piece, which they wish to turn into a  published article.

We match each participant with a mentor who assists in turning the manuscript into a publishable piece. An USTA Mentor is NOT an academic content supervisor, but an expert in writing and publishing. The collaborative process is conducted on a remote basis, unless funding allows personal meetings.
